    Dr.N. Thajuddin Director, National Facility for Marine Cyanobacteria, completed his doctoral work on Marine cyanobacterial flora of the southern east coast of India - Survey and Ecobiological Studies and has 30 years of research experience in marine cyanobacterial biotechnology. Established an internationally renowned National Repository for Microalgae and Cyanobacteria – Freshwater funded by DBT, Govt. of India (Rs 1.75 Crores) I, Microalgal Mass Cultivation Centre, Mobile Taxonomy Laboratory and Mushroom Cultivation Unit. Also, played crucial role in the establishment of National Facility for Marine Cyanobacteria Rs. 6.24 crores. grant received for Research Projects and Programmes from DBT, DST, UGC, MoES Rs. 7.24 lakhs fund generated through industrial consultancy project Rs. 18.0 crores of Grant received for departments from UGC-Non-SAP, DST-PURSE, FIST Progarmmes Organized 5 Refresher Courses, 3 DST-INSPIRE Programmes, 8 Symposia, 2 International Conferences, 3 Seminars and 8 Workshops Received prestigious awards including TANSA award (2014) , Dr. G. S.Venkataraman Best Scientist Award , Dr. M. S. Swaminathan Leadership Award, Senior Scientist award Elected Fellow of Royal Society of Biology (FRSB) London, Fellow of Linnean Society (FLS) London, Fellow of Mycological Society of India (FMSI), Fellow of National Academy of Biological Sciences (FNABS), India Presented 95 papers in 40 International level Conferences/ Symposia and 363 papers in 90 National Level Conferences/Symposia/ Seminars of which 50 presentations received Awards / Prizes

    Signed 5 MoUs with the institutions at Republic of Korea, China and Taiwan
    Deposited 605 genes sequences in GenBank and developed Barcode of 6 Fungi

    Actinobacterial research contributions have raised Bharathidasan University to the level of one among top five universities of the country (Reference - Indian Journal of Experimental Biology, 2013, 15: 573-596)
